Family Trip to Capistrano Beach

This summer I had the goal to get the whole family together for a little while.  To sweeten the pot we rented a house on the beach in Capistrano Beach.  It was a great house.  The back door opened right on the beach.  There was room for all of us.
We only had Jared for one day.  We had Thea for a couple of days and Sara and Kevin for a couple of days.
We took in  side trip to the Mission San Juan Capistrano.  We have copies of the picture below with our three kids when they were about the same age as the grand kids.

For a while we just had the Lindstrom Clan with us.  We took in a sea food dinner and stroll along the San Clemente Pier.

We spent a day in Lego Land.  Everything made of Legos.

We spent a day at Sea World.
And Jesse wonders where Eden gets it.

Crest Trip to Lanai

This year's Waddell and Reed Crest incentive trip was to the island of Lanai in Hawaii.  We decided to  take Jesse and Cori and their children this year.  They have been on a Crest trip with us before.  Lanai is small, desert, and sparsely populated (3600).  Playing on the beach is the main activity so we figured that would be a great time with the grandkids.
There are two resorts on the Island.  Both of them are Four Seasons.  They are spectacular resorts.  The swimming pool was a popular place to spend some time.

Feeding the fish with Grame Marla was a favorite activity.  Eden thought she would try some of the fish food.

This was our room looking out over the beach.  Because of my years with the company they treat me pretty well.

Meal time is always a hit.

 Grace learned some hula dancing.
A little Conch Shell duet with Papa Jeff
A day exploring the tidal pools
We always enjoy going to church in different parts of the world.  We took our friend Linda Francis from Chicago with us.  She is a very devote woman and extremely well traveled.   She always attends church on Sunday where ever in the world she is.  I think it was her first visit to a Mormon Church.
Lanai City is the only town on the Island.  The pine trees are "Cook Island Pines"  With the cool Island breezes and the pine trees, we felt more like being in the Sierras than on an Island in Hawaii.

The company always puts on a fancy dinner on the last night of the trip.

Weber Lake, Nevada, Memorial Day 2012

Saturday we went with our friends Rich and Holly Whipple to Weber Reservoir.  It is located on the Walker River Piute Indian Reservation.  The Indians sell fireworks and Rich loves fireworks.  We aren't talking ordinary love, it's fill the back of the truck up kind of love.  The fireworks show lasted two hours.  We cooked dutch oven chicken chili and cornbread with brats.  It was a quick trip. We got up early Sunday morning to get to church.

We flew out on Sunday afternoon.  On Monday we attended a six hour class on end of life issues.  We learned how to people who are grieving.  The business meetings were first rate.  The food was fantastic.  Lots of barbeque.

It was a good time to see and meet with the people we talk to on the phone all the time.
